“A Certified Teacher for Every Classroom”
- Todd Goldthwaite, Managing Director
The new school year is here and many students across the nation have returned to classrooms eager to learn. District leaders have dedicated significant resources to teacher recruitment and retention; yet many classrooms are missing the most important resource: a certified teacher. We know from research that, among all school-related factors, teachers have the greatest impact on student learning outcomes.
District leaders across the country are telling us the problem is urgent. Learn More. Nevada began the school year with approximately 3,000 teaching vacancies, for example; and Illinois reported 2,040 teaching positions were either empty or filled with underqualified hires. Kansas began the school year with 1,400 unfilled positions, and Florida reported 8,000 vacancies. Maryland reported more than 5,500 teachers left the profession in 2022, leaving districts with widespread vacancies. Estimated 600-700 vacancies going into this school year.
The cost of this crisis is too high. Their students can’t wait.
This is why district and school leaders are partnering with Stride Learning Solutions to obtain high-quality, state-certified teachers to fill classroom vacancies.
In some instances, a school district may be short an advanced math teacher. Perhaps that district offers a synchronous calculus course to 6 high schools on the same bell schedule with a remote teacher who teaches students across multiple classrooms in each of the 6 buildings.
In other instances, districts may desire a flexible schedule with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning through a virtual classroom setting.
Each district has nuanced needs. District leaders across the nation work with Stride Learning Solutions to share their unique needs and quickly implement cost-effective solutions so that every student PreK-12 has an engaged and impactful learning experience led by a certified teacher.
Teacher Shortages are Impacting Schools Across the Nation
District leaders nationwide have put significant resources into their recruitment and retention efforts to ensure that every classroom has a certified teacher this school year. Yet, despite this hard work, the school year has begun with thousands of classrooms understaffed. With no end in sight to this shortage of qualified certified teachers, leaders are finding innovative and nontraditional models to fill instructional gaps in partnership with Stride Learning Solutions.
